In 1978, at the peak of their popularity, the four members of Kiss pulled an unprecedented marketing move, each releasing a solo album, all on the same day.
The campaign backfired and a high percentage of the 5 million shipped by Casablanca were returned.

The most successful of the lot was Ace Frehley and his single New York Groove made it into the US Top Twenty.
